UNDERSTANDING YOUR WINDOW OF TOLERANCE
A calm, easy guide to help you understand your nervous system, notice your early signs, and find your way back when things feel too much.
No pressure - just something you can come back to whenever you need.
For young people (16+) and the people supporting them
People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes something specific has happened.
Sometimes it’s harder to explain - just a sense that things don’t feel quite right.
Many young people I work with feel stuck or unsure of their next step. They might be spending more time at home, struggling with motivation or confidence, or finding it hard to move forward with things like college, work, or everyday life. It can feel like others are moving on, while they feel left behind or unsure where they fit. That can be frustrating, disheartening, and sometimes quite isolating.
However it feels, we can start there.
There’s no pressure to have the right words.
This is a calm, steady space where things can begin to make a bit more sense — at your own pace.
Y
ou don’t have to wait until things get worse to talk to someone. If you’re a parent reading this, you might recognise some of this in your young person and feel unsure how to help.
You don’t have to figure that out alone.

COUNSELLING FOR YOUNG ADULTS (16+) IN EDINBURGH & MIDLOTHIAN
In-Person or Online
I offer one-to-one counselling for young adults aged 16+ who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or struggling to engage with school, college, employment or everyday life.
This often includes young people still living at home, struggling with confidence, motivation, or a sense of direction, and parents who are concerned and unsure how best to support them.
This is a space where they don't have to filter themselves or find the "right" words. We take things at their pace, and make sense of what's going on together.
If you are a parent reading this, I understand how worrying it can feel when your young person seems stuck or not themselves. This can be a supportive first step.
Our work might include:
• Talking things through openly, without judgement
• Understanding patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviour
• Finding ways to manage anxiety, low mood, or overwhelm
• Building confidence and a sense of direction
• Taking small, realistic steps forward
• Exploring coping patterns and habits (including addiction)

My Approach to Counselling
A way of working that fits you
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside person-centred and trauma-informed approaches. In practice, that means there isn’t one “right” way we have to do this.
Some sessions might focus on understanding patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviour, and finding practical ways to manage things differently. Others might be about slowing things down and making space for what’s been difficult to carry.
If you’re feeling stuck or unsure of your direction, we can gently explore what’s getting in the way and begin to take small, manageable steps forward, reconnecting with what matters to you along the way.
It’s not always easy to put things into words, or to know where to start. There’s no pressure to get it right. I don’t see you as a problem to fix - I see you as someone trying to make sense of things in the best way you can.
We’ll figure out what helps - together, and at your pace.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory consultation online. It’s a chance to have a chat, ask any questions, and get a feel for whether working together feels right.
There is no obligation to continue afterwards.
